Digital Sexual Violence Webinar
The Sexual Violence Prevention Association (SVPA) and Equality Now hosted a survivor-led webinar about digital sexual violence and online sexual exploitation and abuse (OSEA). The panel featured survivors sharing their lived experiences and recommendations, alongside experts in sexual violence prevention and law. Speakers discussed urgent policy tensions, such as balancing the need for digital safety, accountability, and prevention with concerns for surveillance, privacy, and free speech.
This webinar was informed by the host organizations’ joint report Online sexual exploitation and abuse in the United States: An analysis of policy gaps, system response, and prevention mechanisms. Attendees, including researchers, advocates, and policymakers, engaged with the current legal gaps, the role of tech platforms, and pathways for accountability and prevention.
