The Sexual Violence Prevention Association (SVPA) joined thousands of survivors, advocates, and allies across the country for the #StopSexualViolence Nationwide Day of Action. Together, we demanded safety, justice, healing, and prevention.
As a national partner of the #StopSexualViolence Day of Action, the SVPA was proud to protest sexual violence against marginalied communities and advocate for systemic change. National partners included Women’s March, me too. International, Feminist Generation, and FEMINIST.
Thousands of survivors joined marches and rallies in Washington, DC, New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Philadelphia, and many other communities and campuses nationwide. Together, we carried the same message, “From the frat house to the White House, sexual violence is never acceptable.”
“Survivors are done being ignored. From Cornell to Epstein to our immigration detention centers, powerful institutions keep protecting abusers instead of survivors. Today, thousands of us showed up to say no more. But marching is only the beginning. We are organizing, we are writing the bills, and we will not stop until survivors have the justice they deserve,” said Omny Miranda Martone, survivor, Founder, and CEO of the SVPA.
The SVPA is a driving force behind the systemic efforts that make up the demands of the #StopSexualViolence Nationwide Day of Action. The SVPA was instrumental in the passage of the Epstein Files Transparency Act I and now supports the Epstein Files Transparency Act II. The SVPA also endorses the Survivors’ Rights Restitution Act and was at the Capitol for its introduction. The SVPA continues to demand that Congress end sexual violence by ICE and CBP, has endorsed the WISE Act, and is pushing the Department of Education and the Department of Justice to strengthen Title IX enforcement and require more prevention in K-12 schools and colleges.
